This class explains in detail how start-up companies are able to obtain financing from institutional sources such as angels and venture capitalists. It describes how the venture capital industry is organized internationally and its modus operandi. The class also goes into the different ways and means by which venture capitalists fund their portfolio companies, how they evaluate the risk-return profile of a potential investment, the valuation techniques used, control mechanisms applied and exit routes that are being used, such as IPO´s or mergers.
